Saturday Night at Firewater: Let It Happen
Last Saturday night at Firewater Dundee was one for the books. Let It Happen delivered exactly what the name promises - and then some.
The Setup
By 10:30pm, all three floors were already buzzing. The ground floor bar was packed with groups doing pre-game shots. The mezzanine had prime position watchers settling in. And the basement? Already filling up fast.
The Music Journey
The DJs took us on a proper journey through indie, disco, and singalong anthems:
Early Night (10pm-11:30pm):
- Tame Impala - Let It Happen (obviously)
- Phoenix - 1901
- MGMT - Kids
- Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know
Peak Time (11:30pm-1:30am):
- Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
- The Killers - Mr. Brightside
- Blur - Song 2
- Pulp - Common People
Late Night Madness (1:30am-3am):
- Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger (entire basement singing)
- The Strokes - Last Nite
- Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
- Kasabian - Fire
The Crowd
740 capacity and it felt like every single person was having the time of their life. No phones out (well, except for Mr. Brightside - that's mandatory). Just pure, unfiltered dancing and singing.
Standout Moments
Midnight: When the entire basement sang "Don't Look Back in Anger" in perfect unison. Actual goosebumps.
1:45am: Someone crowd-surfed during "Song 2." Security was surprisingly cool about it.
2:30am: The final song. Nobody wanted to leave.
The Verdict
This is what Saturday nights are meant to be. No pretension, no VIP sections, just great music and better vibes.
Let It Happen runs every Saturday at Firewater Dundee. Entry £5. Open till 3am.
Next weekend, we do it all again.
